Such a great read! Owning a business is definitely something that almost everyone aspires to. I totally agree, that before even attempting to quit your day job, one should have a solid working plan and resources, and lots of major back up steps!

I can definitely identify with Step 5. I used to get stuck in the planning phase without ever moving to the implementation phase. When I finally started to just "do it already", more power and insight came with it.

Great article! This is my first visit to your blog - lots of nice information here.

I think these five steps are very sound advice. When I fired my boss a couple of years ago, I would have been better served to have followed all of these instead of just a couple of them.

network marketing explained’s last blog post..Using Twitter Tools to get Crazy Leads in Network Marketing

The steps are really not that simple. If they were, everyone would be doing it.

There are just too many people with great ideas on paper, but fail to follow through on the execution. Having a great business plan includes planning how to go about setting up the business for profit and sustainability, so I'd have to agree that when you've done all your figures and mapped out your business, the best thing to do is to just get to doing it no matter what your employment status is! =)

You make some very good points and I agree with them. In addition, I always advise people who want to go into business to make sure that there is a market for their product. Often times we think that because we like something that everyone else likes it as well. It is important to remember that no matter how much you may love surfing, and no matter how great your new surf board is, it will probably be difficult to sell surf boards in Iowa.

yup, great advice on the client/contact list. I never made one of those as well and ultimately had to. Like you said, there were plenty of reasons to make that list beforehand, and I would have saved myself a load of time had I did that.

Very nice simple steps! Last step is the hardest since many people are too afraid to start their own business.
